Systems Automation Ruby Engineer

Sonian is looking for an experienced Systems Automation Ruby Engineer to join our team. We are looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented & team-focused engineer. This position is 100% telecommuting & pair programming/hacking over GNUScreen/Skype in the cloud. Position comes with a shiney new 15″ MBP & 3g.

Responsibilities

• Writing code to automate systems in the cloud.
• Experiment with new technologies to improve architecture.
• Plan automated backups and fail-over configurations.
• Keep centralized logging and monitoring on clusters.
• Work with other Engineers to profile and optimize.
• Develop capacity plans for new & existing clusters.
• Produce high quality systems documents.

Requirements

• Firm grasp of networking protocols & unix.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Familiarity with Chef, Puppet or CFEngine.
• Have a general excitement for useful progressive tech.
• Excellent organization, documentation and communication skills.
• Desire to learn system automation tools & cloud computing
• Bonus (Big): Proficient in Ruby & Git.
• Must be a US resident. This position allows for telecommuting for US citizens in the US.
